Durability Test Rig (DTR) Services

Nylacast Automotive utilise the DTR to support the gearbox validation efforts of EPS and Braking systems for its customers, which will further strengthen its position as one of the world’s leading Automotive Industry partners.

By providing this high level of durability testing service, we will help EPS and Braking system manufacturers ensure that their products meet the most stringent performance standards while complying with industry standards and regulatory requirements.

Nylacast Automotive’s Durability Test Rig can perform not only dynamic and static gear durability tests for front and rear drives, but also corresponding durability tests on EPS gears and braking gearboxes. These capabilities make it a valuable tool for evaluating and improving gearbox performance.

DTR Key Parameters

Nylacast Automotive's DTR is equipped with a highly flexible and customisable test program designed to provide comprehensive test options to meet the various specific test needs of EPS and Braking system manufacturers. The following are the key parameters that the test program can accommodate:

  • Torques: The test program can simulate different torque conditions, which are essential for evaluating the performance of the gearbox in real driving situations.
  • Gearbox Test Chamber Temperatures: To accurately simulate the performance of a gearbox in a real-world environment, the temperature of the test chamber can be adjusted to evaluate performance with different temperature profiles.
  • Allowable 'specimen' temperatures: The test program enables the control of the temperature of the gear inside the gearbox which is fundamental for a better understanding of the intricate relationships between part (local) temperature and the loading conditions.
  • Steering Angles: The steering angle of the electric power steering system is adjustable to simulate various steering scenarios.
  • Steering velocities: Steering velocity is variable to evaluate steering system performance at different vehicle velocities.
  • Sine Waves, Square Waves, Ramps, Multi-Rate Ramps, Dwellings: These different signal wave forms and patterns can be applied in the test to simulate diverse operating conditions.
  • PID Control Tunings: The test program includes a control tuning function that allows fine tuning of the test parameters to achieve the desired test conditions.
  • Run Multiple Input/output (I/O) Control Channels: Multiple I/O channels are supported, allowing multiple test variables to be controlled and monitored simultaneously.
  • Multiple Data Acquisition Events: The data acquisition system can trigger multiple events for recording and analyzing data generated during the test process.
