CEO
Simon joined Nylacast Automotive in 2016 as Managing Director and in this role he leads a highly skilled International team of over 250 personnel and oversees global manufacturing operations, technical centres and commercial functions.He began his Automotive career in 1983 and has over 25 years’ experience within the Tier 1 supply base serving in various positions of increasing responsibility including: Application Engineering, Technical Sales, Manufacturing Operations, Commercial, Business Development and General Management. Over the past 10 years he has worked at Board level with P&L responsibility. Prior to joining Nylacast, Simon worked with GKN, Metaldyne (now American Axle), Pechiney (now Rio Tinto) and SKF. Simon holds a 1st Class Honours Degree in Mechanical Engineering and is a Chartered Mechanical Engineer. He is a French speaker and has extensive International experience successfully developing businesses in all Continents and has lived and worked in both Europe and North America.
Tim Short
Health & Safety Officer
Tim joined Nylacast in 1999, as Health and Safety officer he is responsible for leading the environmental, health and safety initiatives within Nylacast Automotive. He has over 21 years’ experience working at Nylacast in different roles within logistics, machining, assembly operations, production planning, quality engineering and health and safety and has a thorough understanding of the company and its products. Prior to joining Nylacast, Tim has held various positions within manufacturing and operations. Tim has gained various qualifications and certifications during his time at Nylacast, in addition to his IOSH qualification.
Bruce Ma
Operations Director China
Bruce joined Nylacast Automotive China in 2015 as Operations Director. In this role he is responsible for the operations and business development in China. Bruce has over 10 years experience within the Automotive industry and has over 20 years experience with Quality Management, Operations Management Lean Manufacturing, having successfully led many improvement projects in his past career. He holds a material engineering degree, and he is MBA and Six Sigma Black belt qualified. Prior to joining Nylacast, Bruce worked with TPI (US), ExxonMobil and Ball Injection moulding.
Carlos Barbosa
Research & Development Manager
Carlos has been with Nylacast for almost two years as Research and Development Manager. He is responsible for researching and proposing new technologies, material concepts as well as developing material specifications, new test procedures and challenging engineering practices to continuously improve the product design and development process. Prior to joining Nylacast, he has worked with OEM and Tier 1 companies including Ford, Jaguar Land Rover and Bosch, accumulating experience as R&D Engineer and Innovation Project Manager on international and inter-organizational projects. Carlos has a range of qualifications including a MSc in Polymer Engineering & Science and a PhD in Engineering Design and Advanced Manufacturing.
Pete Wignall
Operations Director UK
Pete joined Nylacast at the beginning of 2003 as Production Manager. With extensive knowledge of the Nylacast Automotive products and quality control, Pete was promoted to Operations Director in 2020 where he is responsible for managing all elements of production and operation within the UK. He has gained qualifications including a HND in mechanical Engineering. Pete has 27 years’ experience in Automotive engineering, with previous roles at Voestalpine Elmsteel Group Ltd.
Martyn Roscoe
Senior Quality Engineer
Martyn's journey with Nylacast began in July 2022 when he joined as the CI and Operational Support Manager. Since then, he has swiftly transitioned into the role of Senior Quality Engineer for Automotive at the Leicester facility.
He possesses an extensive professional background, having accumulated over 35 years of valuable experience in Operations Management roles across both large-scale enterprises and SMEs. His expertise stems from completing a mechanical engineering apprenticeship, which has equipped him with a diverse skill set.
During his tenure at General Electric (GE), Martyn acquired qualifications in IOSH, Six Sigma, and Quality management. He possesses vast expertise in Health and Safety, Quality, Continuous Improvement, planning, purchasing, manufacturing, and inventory control.
